The one thing that disappoints me though is that I've only gotten one backer for the 'All Base Covers' reward tier. I really like people to get physical copies of my books. And I thought $55 for both all my digital and all my base books was a really good deal, but the market has spoken. So, I'm sweetening the deal! Vixens Hit 75% - New Backer Bonus Reward!

Dear Backers:

With more than a week and a half to go, we're 77% there! As such, I've gone ahead and started Nico working on the art for the rest of the book.  It should be more than half done before the campaign is over. I'm very proud of my record of fulfilling ahead of schedule and intend to do so again. Here's some sketch work as the bad guys find the island where are heroines are hiding (plus a call back to Shark of War #1 for you hardcore continuity types fans).

Vicious Vixens are 75% there and I need your help on SAMSON!

Dear Backers

The Vicious Vixens are a hair away from the three quarters mark with 2 weeks left. Thank you again for all your support. 

Now, I need your help with something else (but it's free -yay).  As I mentioned earlier, I'm closing in on launching Samson - and while he doesn't always wear a supersuit, like any good superhero and ex-Israeli super soldier - he has one. Jhonesbas and I have brainstormed some different costume ideas and who better to say what they like best than the people who are willing to put their hard earned money up for my books.

These are a bit rough, so don't be put off by that. Also, while I'm interested in your opinion on the glove/boot/belt colors, what I'd really like are your thoughts on the outfit itself especially the shirt. Here are the choices!

Some notes on the costume - the belt buckle is the Hamsa Hand, a symbol of protection against evil. The Chai symbol on the shoulders means 'Life'. The red on some of the collars was inspired by the wearing of a crimson band on the left wrist to ward off misfortune. And of course the Star of David and white and blue color scheme is based on Israel's flag.

Drumsticks of Doom 1-4 - When Black Sabbath (not the Beatles) became the world’s most famous band, the universe was changed, musically and otherwise. Lost arts, like Alchemy, were made common, schools taught about transfiguration and alternate science, Demons were summoned and some stuck around.

Lana LOVES music. She has played in bands all through high school and now, in college, she still plays in her ex’s fledgling metal band. She's finishing up the best practice yet when they are drawn into a spiritual battle to keep metal on the top of the charts.

Issue 4 has Lana facing the music. The events of the last 3 issues have come to a head and Lana will need to rock and not lose her cool. She will need to battle the wolves, the mysterious stalker and other bands before she fades to black.

A 4th of July Vicious Vixens Backers Bonus

We've crashed past 100 backers and the 70% funded mark less than halfway in. It's also July 4th. So to celebrate, it's time for another backer bonus for any physical backers.  And it's kind of a strange one.

The Real Life Villains of Samson

Dear Backers

The Vicious Vixens of Dakuwanga is nearing a 100 backers and 2/3s funded just a week in. Thank you for all your support, I think we're in pretty good shape.

So while we wait on that to fund, let's look at my next book Samson - Samuel and Solomon Zucker are two young boys taken to Auschwitz in 1942 where they are used as guinea pigs as part of a Nazi effort to make a super soldier - Project Uberfuhrer.

But instead of a super soldier, the Nazis create their greatest enemy - Samson!

When you think about Nazi's experimenting on children, particularly twins, one name comes to mind, Josef Mengele, dubbed the Angel of Death. He got that name because he would decide who was healthy enough to use as slave labor and who should go straight to the gas chamber.

After the war, Mengele escaped to South America and died of a stroke in Brazil without ever facing justice. However, he was far from the only Nazi doctor experimenting on prisoners. When Samson artist Jhonesbas Craneo asked for references, I decided not to use Mengele. He's a blandly good looking man that you wouldn't look at twice in normal life.

Instead, I had him base the lead scientist, Dr. Scherner, on Karl Gebhardt, a real doctor who performed the most horrifying experiments on prisoners at the Ravensbrook and Auschwitz concentration camps. He wanted to prove that sulfonamide was not an effective cure for gangrene. To do this, he broke the legs of prisoners and infected the break. He also attempted to transplant limbs from camp prisoners onto wounded German soldiers. During the Nuremberg Trials, he was hung, probably a nicer method of execution than he deserved.

Scherner's assistant, Henry Wagner, was based on Gebhardt's real assistant, Fritz Fischer. He was originally sentenced to life in prison but that was reduced to 15 years. Amazingly, he regained his license to practice medicine and lived past 90. Clearly an example of how life isn't always fair.

As I said, if you saw someone who looked like Mengele in your Doctor's office, you wouldn't think twice, but just looking at the pictures of these two, you'd think evil. Look at Fischer's eyes. Being alone in a room with him would send chills down the spine of even the bravest.

And here we get our first look at Scherner and Wagner as they greet our terrified young heroes.

I hope this sounds interesting to you.  It will certainly be darker and more serious than anything I've done before. Please tell me your thoughts.

I hope to launch it soon after the Vicious Vixens of Dakuwanga wraps up and plan on giving a bonus to those who back both campaigns at a physical level.
